For sale: HAL ST-7000 HF packet modem. This is a superior front
          end for use on HF packet, rtty, and amtor. It has inputs
          for an HF and VHF radio and outputs for ttl, rs232, and
          tnc audio. This device can be used in front of any tnc
          that has a ttl external modem input (many tncs have one).
          It can also be used with a tnc that does not have the external
          modem input by using the tnc audio output. The rs232
          output is intended for use with the HAL RPC-2000 pc interface
          card but since it is rs232 it can be used in many ways.
          When used with a PK232, the ttl output matches up perfectly
          and the unit provides a superior front end filtering. 
          Cables to mate with the pk232 are provided. The nice feature
          about this unit is that it can be used with a standard VHF
          tnc such as the PK-88 or MFJ-1270 to provide very good
          HF packet operation. When used this way, The ST-7000 will
          convert the tones used on HF packet to the tones used on
          VHF packet and allow you to work HF packet without buying 
          a new tnc. You can also thread the audio from your VHF
          receiver through the ST-7000 so that when it is powered,
          you are on HF and when it is shut off you are on VHF packet.
          It automatically does the switching between HF and VHF.
          All you need to do is set the Hbaud on your present tnc
          to 1200 for VHF operation and 300 for HF operation.

          This unit is supplied with cables for all inputs and outputs
          except the rs232. A very good manual and a technical paper
          describing the design theory is also included. I have used
          this unit on HF packet, rtty, and amtor with excellent results.
          It has a front panel tuning indicator and threshold adjustment.
          It is in excellent condition as is the documentation and cables.
